SMALL BUSINESS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

  • Business owner technical assistance awards will be provided to eligible businesses for services such as business planning, financial management, design assistance, design/build assistance, content creation, and web development. 
  • While each of the services offered through technical assistance awards has a value, there is no money exchanged between the City of Pontiac and the awardees. 
  • Technical assistance awards are available to: (1) Pontiac residents who own Pontiac-based businesses, and (2) non-resident business owner applicants who will be seeking future small business loans. 
  • This program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act funding and is meant to offset negative impacts of COVID-19. 

Program Goals:

  1. Create economic mobility for Pontiac residents through entrepreneurship – increase incomes and grow wealth
  2. Distribute program resources equitably – focus on low to moderate income Pontiac residents and underserved entrepreneurs
  3. Create jobs for low to moderate income Pontiac residents and underserved communities
  4. Increase access to capital for minority and women owned businesses
  5. Eliminate blight by re-activating currently vacant space

Program Objectives:

The objective of this program is to help start new, permanent businesses and expand existing businesses in Pontiac by providing tailored assistance throughout the launch and growth process.

This program is ideal for entrepreneurs looking to start or expand their business in Pontiac.

Technical Assistance Opportunities

  • Technical assistance awards offer business services, design services, and one-on-one consulting.
  • Technical Assistance Awards do not include any direct cash assistance to awardees – instead, the program reimburses qualified technical assistance providers directly for services provided to awardees.
  • Business owner technical assistance awards will be provided to eligible businesses for services such as business planning, financial management, design assistance, design/build assistance, content creation, and web development.
